Stockholm Design Week 2020 - The Sculptor’s Residence

Terveisiä Tukholman huonekalumessuilta ja samaan aikaan pidetyltä designviikolta!

Ensiksi postaan kuvia omasta suosikistani oheistapahtumissa: Tukholman keskustassa järjestetystä DUX, The Sculptor’s Residence by Norm Architects-yhteisnäyttelystä, joka oli toteutettu yhteistyössä Menun, Norm Architectsin ja Duxin kanssa. Tämä hurmaava tila, ihanat tuotteet, kaunis styling ja ihana tuoksu Byredon tuoksukynttilästä tekivät kokonaisuudesta ikimuistoisen elämyksellisen. Tätä meille Helsinkiin myös, kiitos :)

Tässä lehdistötiedotteesta:

“During Stockholm Design Week 2020, DUX is unveiling the exhibition The Sculptor’s Residence, an exclusive apartment atelier installation that transforms a period property into the eclectic home of an artisan collector. The exhibition is curated by Danish design and architecture studio Norm Architects and organized in partnership with Danish design brand MENU. In this theatrical setting, DUX will be introducing its new collection Domus – a collaboration with Norm Architects, inspired by icons from the 1950s found in the DUX archive.

The collaboration with Norm Architects began with the set design for last year’s exhibition Into The Light at Alma during Stockholm Design Week. Norm Architects designed the Anna headboard for this event, and since then the design partnership has blossomed. This time around, Norm Architects have found inspiration in the treasure trove that is the DUX design archive. Norm Architects were particularly taken by the furniture created for DUX by designer Alf Svensson for H55 – the international exhibition of architecture, housing, design and art that the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design organised in Helsingborg in 1955. From this source material, Norm Architects and DUX have developed the Domus collection, which includes two armchairs, a stool and a side table. Perusing the new collection, it is clear that Norm Architects have preserved and built on the notions of history and timelessness, not to mention DUX’s high standards of quality and comfort. During Stockholm Design Week, the Domus collection from DUX will be presented in the exhibition The Sculptor’s Residence alongside their other timeless icons.

The Sculptor’s Residence is an artistic oasis in the heart of Stockholm whose doors will be open to the public as part of the Design Week event. The exhibition is curated by Norm Architects and is set out like a home and studio of an artist. Through four different rooms that serve as an exhibition space for designs from DUX and MENU, tactile sculptures by British object-maker Nicholas Shurey, functional ceramic objects by Sofia Tufvasson and Atelier Armand, limestone and marble podiums by Östersjösten Aktiebolag and dolomite plaster walls by St. Leo are featured. They stand alongside furniture, lighting and interior accessories to transform the space with bold, geometric forms, natural materials and sleek, modernist lines that perfectly offset the classical details of the building.”
